Roof Repairs & Leaks in Brisbane

Noticed a leak or damage to your roof? Explain what you have seen and DRS can help look for a suitable independent roofing contractor to assess the property.

Describe the problem, without diagnosing it

A leak might first become apparent as a ceiling mark, damp patch or water entering during rain. Tell us where you noticed it, when it started and whether it occurs in particular weather. If the problem has happened more than once, mention that history and any earlier attempts to address it.

You do not need to identify the cause before making an enquiry. The visible symptom alone does not establish the required repair. An independent contractor needs to inspect the property, consider the condition of the roofing and explain the proposed scope before you can make an informed decision.

The kinds of concerns you can raise

Enquiries may involve broken or displaced tiles, visible damage to metal roofing, concerns about flashing, general deterioration or leaks after a storm. You may be unsure which roof component is involved. A clear description is more useful than choosing a technical label that does not match what you have seen.

DRS reviews the information to help identify a suitable independent business where available. We do not diagnose defects, specify repairs or carry out roofing work. The contractor determines what inspection is needed and whether the concern falls within the work they can undertake.

Information that helps the contractor

Include your suburb, roof material if known and a description of the affected area. State whether water is currently entering or whether you are reporting an earlier event. Mention relevant previous work, a recent storm and any access restrictions. If you have an existing report or photographs taken safely, let the contractor know.

Photographs from ground level or a safe indoor position can help explain an enquiry, but they do not replace an inspection. Do not climb onto the roof, move roofing materials or investigate an unsafe area to provide more detail. It is reasonable to say that an area cannot be safely viewed.

Inspection and quotation

After a referral, the independent contractor discusses inspection arrangements directly with you. Ask whether there is an inspection fee and what information you can expect afterwards. DRS cannot guarantee diagnosis, availability, a particular repair method, pricing or an outcome.

If work is proposed, ask for a written quotation that makes the scope clear. It should be possible to discuss what is included, what is excluded and whether further issues could affect the work. If the contractor recommends a broader replacement, ask them to explain the reason and any alternatives relevant to the property.

Repairs, replacement or storm damage?

You do not have to decide between repair and replacement before an inspection. If your concerns extend across an ageing or deteriorated roof, our roof replacements page can help you prepare questions. If the issue appeared after wind, hail or heavy rain, see storm damage enquiries.

For any enquiry, your contract for roofing work is with the independent contractor you choose. They are responsible for carrying out and supervising their work. DRS provides the enquiry and referral service, and an introduction does not require you to accept a quotation.

Making an enquiry in Brisbane

Our focus is Brisbane and surrounding areas. Include the suburb so we can consider location alongside the roof material and scope. Availability varies, and submitting an enquiry does not book an attendance or guarantee a response time.

DRS is not an emergency response service. Where there is an immediate risk to people or property, seek appropriate emergency assistance rather than waiting for a referral. For a roofing enquiry, tell us what you have noticed, or read how it works.
