Storm Damage Roofing Enquiries in Brisbane

If you have noticed roof damage or a leak after a storm, DRS can review your enquiry and help identify a suitable independent roofing contractor for an inspection and quotation discussion.

What to tell us after a storm

Describe when the storm occurred and what changed afterwards. You might have noticed displaced tiles, damage to roof sheets, a concern about flashing or a new leak. Tell us whether the issue is still occurring and which parts of the property appear affected. It is fine if the extent of the damage is unknown.

Mention wind, hail or heavy rain if these formed part of the event you experienced. These details help explain the context; they do not establish the cause or a repair scope. The contractor needs to assess the property and make their own findings.

Document visible damage safely

If it is safe, make a short record of what you can see from ground level or a safe indoor position. Note the date and keep any photographs you already have of the affected area. You do not need close-up roof photographs or roof measurements to make an enquiry.

Do not climb onto the roof or approach damaged areas to collect evidence for DRS. If a part of the property cannot be safely accessed, say so. Where there is an immediate risk to people or property, seek appropriate emergency assistance. DRS is not an emergency response service and an online enquiry does not arrange an emergency attendance.

Inspection enquiries and timing

Include your property suburb, the roof material if known and any access restrictions. If you are seeking an urgent inspection, explain the situation and your timing needs. We can review those details when considering a referral, but cannot guarantee that a contractor is available or will attend within a particular timeframe.

The independent contractor will discuss any proposed inspection with you directly. Ask about availability, inspection fees and what can be assessed at that visit. After a widespread weather event, do not treat an enquiry acknowledgement as confirmation that an inspection has been booked.

Understanding the proposed work

A contractor's inspection may lead to a repair quotation, a recommendation for further assessment or discussion of replacement options. Ask them to explain what they found and what their proposed scope covers. If temporary measures and longer-term work are discussed, make sure you understand which items are included in the quotation.

The contractor determines the scope, supplies the roofing quotation and enters into any roofing contract with you. DRS does not perform or supervise that work. Our repairs and leaks page and roof replacement page explain the information that can help these conversations.

If you are also speaking with an insurer

Let the contractor know if an insurer has provided instructions, requested information or arranged another assessment. Direct questions about policy cover, claim requirements, approval and payment to your insurer. Keep a record of the information you receive so the different conversations remain clear.

DRS is not an insurer, insurance broker, loss assessor or claims manager. A referral through DRS does not establish insurance cover or guarantee an approved claim or payment. The independent contractor's quotation and your insurer's decisions are separate matters.

The next step

DRS focuses on roofing enquiries from Brisbane and surrounding areas. We review the basic information and look for a suitable independent contractor where appropriate. You and the contractor then communicate about inspection, scope and quotation, and you decide whether to proceed.

Submit a roofing enquiry with the details you can safely provide. Read how it works for a fuller explanation of the referral process and the responsibilities of each business.
